The Science Behind the Product

Active Ingredient: Salicylic Acid 1%. Topical salicylic acid is used to help clear and prevent pimples and skin blemishes in people who have acne. Topical salicylic acid is also used to treat skin conditions that involve scaling or overgrowth of skin cells such as psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the body), ichthyoses (inborn conditions that cause skin dryness and scaling), dandruff, corns, calluses, and warts on the hands or feet.

SenePlex Complex™ - the Kinetic enzyme that increases cellular renewal and naturally exfoliates, moisturizes and nourishes the skin.

Hydromanil Complex - comes from ingredients that include the seed of the tara tree that grows in a very dry climate in the Andes Mountains in Peru. The seeds have a unique ability to retain moisture even after years of being in the dry environment. The manufacturer has been able to extract the hydrating components of the seed and the clinical use shows immediate, intermediate and long term increases in skin hydration. Clinical studies have shown a 10% concentration of Hydromanil produces a 21% moisture boost in the skin after 4 hours. Studies have shown that the skin continues to have significantly greater hydration after three weeks.

Tetrapeptide 21- minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and reduces skin roughness.

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (stabilized Vitamin C) - helps to increase collagen production & diminish wrinkles.

Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract - a natural ingredient that provides anti-acne properties, sebum control, and can be used as an exfoliant. The bark of white willow contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). It is thought to be responsible for the pain relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the herb. Studies have identified several other components of willow bark that have antioxidant, fever reducing, antiseptic, and immune boosting properties.

Bisabolol & Zingiber Offincinale (Ginger) Root Extract Complex - a very powerful anti- irritant that prevents irritation and redness caused by environmental and chemical damage.

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil - a natural anti-oxidant. This ingredient is vital for emolliency in skin care with its superior moisturizing effect on the upper layer of the skin and can aid in reducing scars.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil - acts as a moisturizer and emollient agent to improve the skin’s elasticity and suppleness.

Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil - a very rich, moisturizing treatment with natural sunscreen properties. It is a very stable oil that contains lecithin and more than 20 percent essential unsaturated fatty acids. The age of skin is partly determined by its content of soluble collagen. A recent study found it significantly increases the water-soluble collagen content in the dermis while offering protection from ultraviolet rays.

Butyrospermum Parki (Shea Butter) - a natural moisturizer and plant lipid. Lipids are the oil and fat components of skin that prevent moisture evaporation from the skin and provide lubrication to the skin’s surface.

Panthenol (pro Vitamin B) - Besides the wrinkle reducing effects that panthenol provides to skin, it has been proven in numerous studies that it can be used for acne treatment and acne prevention.

Tocopheryl Acetate - Vitamin E is essential for maintaining the activities of enzymes in the cells and for the formation of red blood cells, is also an anti-oxidant and has been shown to inhibit skin cancer and aid in the healing of skin ailments. Vitamin E is a dynamic weapon against premature aging and combating wrinkles by neutralizing free radicals to stop the chain reaction of molecular damage and to protect the skin against oxidation. It’s also believed to protect skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays once absorbed into the skin.

Arginine – an Amino acid that has antioxidant properties and can be helpful for wound healing; used because it is not harsh like the more commonly used ingredients like TEA or Sodium Hydroxide.

APPLICATION TECHNIQUE

For external use only. Do not use in combination with additional topical acne medications, other than the SeneDerm^® Oily to Acne system. Apply to thoroughly cleansed face and neck in the evening. If excessive drying and peeling occurs, start with one application, gradually increase to twice daily, or as directed by a doctor.
