The Science Behind the Product

Active Ingredient: Salicylic Acid 1%. Topical salicylic acid is used to help clear and prevent pimples and skin blemishes in people who have acne. Topical salicylic acid is also used to treat skin conditions that involve scaling or overgrowth of skin cells such as psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some areas of the body), ichthyoses (inborn conditions that cause skin dryness and scaling), dandruff, corns, calluses, and warts on the hands or feet.

SenePlex Complex™ - the Kinetic enzyme that increases cellular renewal and naturally exfoliates, moisturizes and nourishes the skin.

Bisabolol & Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract Complex - a very powerful anti- irritant that prevents irritation and redness caused by environmental and chemical damage.

Hydromanil Complex - comes from ingredients that include the seed of the tara tree that grows in a very dry climate in the Andes Mountains in Peru. The seeds have a unique ability to retain moisture even after years of being in the dry environment. The manufacturer has been able to extract the hydrating components of the seed and the clinical use shows immediate, intermediate and long term increases in skin hydration. Clinical studies have shown a 10% concentration of Hydromanil produces a 21% moisture boost in the skin after 4 hours. Studies have shown that the skin continues to have significantly greater hydration after three weeks.

Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Oil - Lubricates, boosts collagen and elastin production of the skin and regenerates the hydrolipid barrier that is constantly subject to aggressions mainly from the sun. It photo-protects the skin against UV radiation, particularly UVB that causes erythema.

Tetrapeptide 21 & Tripeptide 1 - a blend of peptides that minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and increases collagen production and skin smoothness.

Epilobium Angustifolium (Willowherb) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract – used for their potent anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory, and free radical-scavenging effects. Therapeutic products for various skin conditions such as those for eczema, psoriasis, seborrhea, fungal infections, and rosacea have incorporated willowherb as a functional active ingredient.

Arginine – an Amino acid that has antioxidant properties and can be helpful for wound healing; used because it is extremely gentle.

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil - a natural anti-oxidant. This ingredient is considered a must for emolliency in skin care with a superior moisturizing effect on the upper layer of the skin and can aid in reducing scars.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil - acts as a moisturizer and emollient agent to improve the skin elasticity and suppleness.

Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil - a very rich, moisturizing treatment with natural sunscreen properties. It is a very stable oil that contains lecithin and more than 20 percent essential unsaturated fatty acids. The age of skin is partly determined by its content of soluble collagen. A recent study found it significantly increases the water-soluble collagen content in the dermis while offering protection from ultraviolet rays.

Butyrospermum Parki (Shea Butter) - a natural moisturizer and plant lipid. Lipids are the oil and fat components of skin that prevent moisture evaporation from the skin and provide lubrication to the skin’s surface.

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (stabilized Vitamin C) - helps increase collagen production & diminish wrinkles.

Panthenol (pro Vitamin B) - Besides the wrinkle reducing effects that panthenol provides to skin, it has been proven in numerous studies that it can be used for acne treatment and prevention.

Tocopheral (Vitamin E)- essential for maintaining the activities of enzymes in the cells and for the formation of red blood cells, is also an anti-oxidant and has been shown to inhibit skin cancer and aid in the healing of skin ailments. It is a dynamic weapon against premature aging and combating wrinkles by neutralizing free radicals to stop the chain reaction of molecular damage and to protect the skin against oxidation. It’s also believed to protect skin from the sun’s ultraviolet rays once it’s absorbed.

Application Technique

For external use only. Do not use in combination with additional topical acne medications, other than the SeneDerm^® Oily to Acne system. Apply to face and neck in the morning, after cleansing thoroughly. If excessive drying or peeling occurs, start with one application daily, gradually increase to twice daily, or as directed by a doctor.
